ERSCO is helping the City of Grand Rapids achieve its goals for renewable energy. The city’s Environmental Services Department developed plans for a $38 million biodigester at the Water Resource Recovery Facility at 1300 Market Avenue SW, Grand Rapids. The facility supports the city’s goal to use 100-percent renewable energy to power city buildings by 2025. The system will treat the stream of food waste from downtown food and beverage manufacturers and related venues. The biodigester is comprised of three 1.4 million gallon tanks, and the facility may expand to include three additional tanks in the future.
